Farmers Called Out Choice For Misleading Chicken Sourcing Claims

Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) have raised concerns over Farmers Choice’s recent promotion of chicken products, accusing the company of misleading consumers by marketing Ugandan-imported chicken as locally sourced. Social media users have criticized Farmers Choice for allegedly undermining Kenya’s poultry industry by sourcing chicken from Uganda while implying that the products are locally produced. “The importation of chicken from Uganda, while local farmers are struggling to find buyers for their produce, is unacceptable,” tweeted one concerned user. Another added, “Why deceive consumers when we have hardworking Kenyan poultry farmers who need support?”

The poultry sector is a crucial part of Kenya’s agricultural economy, employing thousands of farmers and contributing significantly to food security. Industry stakeholders are now calling for more transparency in labeling and marketing practices, urging Farmers Choice and other companies to prioritize local sourcing and support the Kenyan agricultural sector.
