AAR Healthcare Achieves Global Accreditation Milestones

AAR Healthcare Kenya Limited has achieved two major global accreditation milestones, setting a new benchmark for quality and patient safety in Kenya’s private healthcare sector. The organization has secured ISO 15189:2022 international laboratory accreditation and attained Level 5 SafeCare Certification across its Outpatient Centres (OPCs), underscoring its commitment to delivering internationally recognized medical services.
These milestones are not just internal achievements, they have tangible implications for healthcare access, diagnostic reliability, and patient outcomes in Kenya.
AAR Healthcare’s laboratories are among the few in Kenya to receive ISO 15189:2022 accreditation from the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS), an endorsement that affirms their ability to deliver accurate, globally comparable diagnostic results. This certification signals a step forward in reducing diagnostic errors, ensuring quality testing, and strengthening patient confidence in laboratory services.
The accredited laboratories—Williamson (Main Referral Lab), Sarit Centre, Karen, and City Centre, now meet international standards that align with those recognized by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), enhancing cross-border medical collaboration and eliminating the need for duplicate testing.
Beyond diagnostics, AAR Healthcare’s clinical operations have also been recognized with Level 5 SafeCare Certification across all evaluated Outpatient Centers. This certification follows a rigorous seven-year process of evaluation, audits, and continuous improvements aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and patient safety.
The SafeCare certification covers key outpatient facilities, including Embakasi, Nakuru Giddo, Nakuru Section 58, Sarit Centre, Williamson, Mountain Mall, Karen, Greenhouse, City Centre, Ngong, Rongai, and Syokimau, with additional locations such as Buruburu and Kisumu slated for assessment in 2025. The process has already resulted in more streamlined clinical procedures, better-trained staff, and strengthened safety protocols, reducing risks and improving patient care.
These dual accomplishments come at a time when public trust and transparency are more critical than ever. By meeting international standards—ISO 15189 for laboratories and the rigorous benchmarks of SafeCare—AAR Healthcare not only enhances its operational efficiency but also reinforces its reputation as a forward-thinking and patient-focused institution. The international recognition provided by bodies such as ILAC and IAF further affirms the global equivalence of these achievements, eliminating the need for redundant testing and supporting smoother cross-border healthcare collaboration.
“Our commitment to excellence is demonstrated by these significant accreditation milestones,” said Elizabeth Wasunna, General Manager, AAR Healthcare Kenya Limited. “These achievements validate our unwavering focus on quality, patient safety, and continuous improvement, key priorities in today’s dynamic healthcare landscape.”
