KUCCPS Gives Payment Procedure For Degree And TVET Courses Application

BY Getrude Mathayo · April 3, 2025 04:04 pm

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially outlined the payment procedure for candidates seeking to apply for degree programs and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses.

KUCCPS made the announcement, on Wednesday, April 2, comes just five days after the placement service opened its application portal for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates.

In an earlier statement, KUCCPS confirmed that the application portal would remain open for three weeks, with the deadline for applications set for April 21, 2025. However, since the portal’s launch, some applicants have reported challenges in processing their payments.

Some students have noted that their payments have not been reflecting on the portal, causing delays and uncertainty in their application process.

To address these concerns, KUCCPS has now published a step-by-step guide on how to complete the payment process to ensure a seamless application experience for all candidates.

Step-by-Step Guide on How to Pay

KUCCPS has provided clear instructions to applicants on how to process their application fees. According to the placement service, once a candidate has completed the process of selecting their desired course(s), they must proceed by clicking the ‘Submit’ button. This action triggers the payment prompt.

To complete the application, candidates are required to pay an application fee of Ksh1,500. The payment is facilitated through the eCitizen platform, which offers multiple payment options, ensuring accessibility and convenience for all applicants.

Upon reaching the payment section of the portal, candidates will be presented with various payment methods, including mobile money services and bank payments. Applicants must select their preferred payment option and proceed with the transaction.

Once the payment is successfully made, candidates must click on the “I have paid” button within the application portal. Shortly after, the system will generate an eCitizen payment reference code, which will be sent to the applicant via a Short Message Service (SMS). This unique code serves as proof of payment and is a crucial part of the application process.

Candidates are then required to enter the eCitizen payment reference code in the designated field on the portal and click “Submit” to finalize their payment process.

To prevent complications during the application process, KUCCPS has issued several important advisories for candidates. One of the key warnings emphasized by the placement service Is that applicants should not use the mobile money transaction code as a substitute for the eCitizen payment reference code.

The online system will reject any mobile money transaction codes entered incorrectly.

Additionally, KUCCPS has strongly advised all candidates to retain their payment confirmation messages. The reference code provided in the payment confirmation SMS may be required if an applicant wishes to make changes to their course selection later on.

Deleting this message could result in difficulties when making modifications or resolving payment-related issues.

This latest communication from KUCCPS follows a previous announcement made on Tuesday, April 1, in which the placement service introduced support centers across the country.

Recognizing that some students may require further assistance with their applications, KUCCPS has established support centers in all 47 counties. These centers aim to provide guidance and advice to students, helping them make informed decisions regarding their choice of courses and institutions.

By setting up these centers, KUCCPS seeks to ensure that no student is left behind due to technical difficulties or a lack of information. Applicants are encouraged to visit their nearest support center if they encounter any challenges during the application process.

As the application window remains open until April 21, 2025, KUCCPS urges all eligible candidates to complete their applications promptly to avoid last-minute rushes and potential system congestion.

The placement service reassures all applicants that it remains committed to facilitating a smooth and efficient placement process for all KCSE candidates seeking admission into universities and colleges in Kenya.

For further updates and assistance, candidates are encouraged to check the KUCCPS official website or reach out to the support centers for personalized help.
