KUCCPS Reopens Portal For Second Revision And New Applications, Deadline And How To Apply

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially reopened its online portal to facilitate the second and final revision of degree, diploma, and certificate program choices for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates.
The portal, which became active on Saturday, May 31, 2025, will remain open for one week, giving eligible students until Friday, June 6, 2025, to submit or revise their applications.
In a public notice issued on Saturday, KUCCPS called upon students who either missed the initial application window or whose earlier applications were unsuccessful to seize this opportunity and make the necessary revisions or submit new applications.
“The KUCCPS application system is open for the second revision of university, college, and programme choices. KCSE holders who have not applied for courses or those who applied but were unsuccessful are invited to apply. The system will close on June 6, 2025,” read the notice posted on KUCCPS’s official communication channels.

To apply or revise their applications, students must log in to the KUCCPS student portal at http://students.kuccps.net. Applicants will be prompted to enter the following credentials:
- KCSE index number
- KCSE year (2024)
- Password — This can be either the student’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) index number or their birth certificate number
Once logged in, candidates can browse through the list of available programmes across various universities and colleges. The portal allows students to select or amend choices within the application brackets, based on their academic qualifications and interests.
The reopening of the portal for the second revision comes just days after KUCCPS officially closed the first revision window on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. That window, which opened on Saturday, May 18, marked the initial phase of programme selection for KCSE 2024 candidates.
“Deadline Alert! KUCCPS application system closes tonight, May 27, 2025, for the first Revision of Choices to universities. Log in and apply,” KUCCPS warned in a notice issued on the evening of the deadline.
Many students who were unable to complete the first round of applications, or who were not placed due to competition in popular programmes, are now being given a second chance to secure a spot in an institution of higher learning.
This process is a critical stage in Kenya’s university and college placement framework, ensuring that all qualified students are allocated to institutions by their academic performance, programme preferences, and available capacity.
Earlier in the year, KUCCPS confirmed that the 2025 placement exercise includes a broad array of educational institutions:
- 40 public universities, where successful applicants will be eligible for both government scholarships and Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) support.
- 29 private universities, whose students may access HELB loans but are not eligible for government scholarships.
- 263 public colleges, where students are also eligible for both government scholarships and HELB financial support.
This comprehensive system aims to increase access to higher education while easing the financial burden on students and families through state support mechanisms.
As the deadline approaches, KUCCPS is emphasizing the urgency of this final revision period. Students, particularly those who were not placed in the first round or have yet to submit any application, are strongly advised to log in without delay and take action before the portal closes on June 6, 2025.
Failure to apply within this window could result in a missed opportunity to secure a place in a preferred course or institution for the upcoming academic year.
For updates, students and guardians are encouraged to regularly check the KUCCPS official website and social media platforms.
