Ecobank Goes Ham In Supporting Next Genenation Through Education

Ecobank Kenya has marked Ecobank Day 2025 with a hands-on community engagement that reaffirms the Bank’s belief in the transformative power of education.
As part of this year’s celebrations, Ecobank Kenya has extended its three-year partnership with the Heritage of Faith and Hope Children Center and School in Sabaki, Athi River, through its contribution toward the construction of a science laboratory at the Center’s School.
Over the past three years, Ecobank Kenya has directly impacted 137 students at the Center through the construction and equipping of a computer laboratory, the provision of scholarships, and the donation of learning materials.
Speaking during an event at the Children’s Center, Josephine Anan-Ankomah, MD, Ecobank Kenya, said: “Our contribution towards the building of the Center’s science laboratory this year will go a long way in supporting the children’s development and readiness for the technology-enabled society that we now live in. We believe the lab will be critical in opening the children’s minds to the world of possibilities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), bring out their strengths, and pique their interest in new careers.”
In addition to infrastructure support, Ecobank Kenya has provided full secondary school scholarships for seven students through to graduation in 2026, foodstuffs and sanitary items in support of the school’s operations.
“I believe our impact at the school will extend far beyond the three years we have collaborated with them. It will be reflected in the digital skills the students will gain, in their ability to pursue higher education, and in the ripple effect this will have on the communities around them,” added Ms. Anan-Ankomah.
On her part, the Founder Director of Heritage of Faith and Hope Center and School, Mrs. Teresiah Waweru, expressed her appreciation for Ecobank Kenya’s unwavering support to the Center and School over the last three years.
“We are deeply grateful to Ecobank for the support that they have given the Center and School over the years. The establishment of a computer lab has bridged the digital gap and ignited innovation among the students and teachers. Equally, the scholarship program has enabled the school to resource itself adequately and meet its obligations promptly, transforming the lives of teachers and students alike.”
Beneficiaries of the Scholarship program thanked Ecobank for transforming their lives through its contribution to their education.
“Ecobank has been a dream enabler and a hope carrier for our lives. Its contribution has opened doors for new ideas. You didn’t just donate machines; you planted seeds of opportunity. Happy 40th Anniversary, Ecobank!” said Umi Rehema, one of the scholarship beneficiaries.
This year’s Ecobank Day coincides with Ecobank’s 40th anniversary and the 13th year of the Ecobank Foundation, marking the culmination of a three-year pan-African campaign themed “Transforming Africa Through Education.”
Ecobank Day is the Group’s flagship annual corporate social responsibility initiative, celebrated simultaneously across 34 African countries to drive impact in local communities. Launched in 2013, Ecobank Day has become the Group’s flagship corporate social responsibility initiative, mobilizing employees, the Ecobank Foundation, and partners around critical causes such as health, education, and youth empowerment.
Over the past two years, Ecobank has provided mentorship to over 27,000 children and donated more than 30 IT labs across its 34 markets in Africa. This year, the Group plans to deploy 40 IT labs and train 40,000 children in essential digital skills, as the culmination of its three-year campaign.
