Thieves Break Into Three Churches, Drink Communion Wine and Steal Equipment

People in Ndia, Kirinyaga County, are still in shock after thieves broke into three churches in one night and stole valuable items, leaving behind damage and confusion.

The churches affected were Fountain of Life Church International, St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a nearby ACK church in Riakiania village. What started as a normal Sunday quickly turned into a stressful day when church members found their places of worship broken into.

Church leaders said the thieves entered at night by breaking windows and doors. They stole microphones, keyboards, mixers, and other sound systems. At Fountain of Life Church International, items worth more than KSh 200,000 were stolen. At St. Joseph Catholic Church, the loss was even higher, going beyond KSh 500,000. The ACK church also lost equipment worth a large amount of money.

In what many residents are calling both shocking and strangely audacious, the suspects reportedly helped themselves to communion wine before making their exit.  They paused for what can only be described as an uninvited “refreshment break.” The act has left church leaders deeply disturbed; even as some locals shake their heads in disbelief at the sheer boldness.

It is believed the thieves used the heavy rains that night to carry out the attacks without being noticed. The fact that all three churches were targeted in one night has raised concerns about security in the area.  Many residents are worried, saying that if churches are not safe, then other places may also be at risk.

The theft has disrupted church activities, with some congregations forced to hold services without sound equipment. Leaders have now called on security agencies to increase patrols and investigate the rising cases of church break-ins in the area.

Police have started investigations, but no suspects have been arrested yet. Church leaders are now asking for better security to protect places of worship.
