Finger Millet Retailing Highest in Kisumu and Lowest in Kakamega

A 90-kilogram bag of finger millet is retailing highest in Kisumu at a market price of 8,000 shillings and lowest in Kakamega at 6,000 shillings. Market prices across the country keep going up with the dry season being experienced.

A 90-kilogram bag of dry maize is still going up and the lowest market price is 2,800 shillings in Kakamega. Eldoret and Kitale regions that are known to be large producers of the cereal have not been spared as the prices are also high, at 3,200 and 3,300 shillings respectively. Kisumu is where the commodity has the highest price of 4,400 shillings as compared to other towns across the country.

A 110-kilogram bag of groundnuts is retailing at an average market price of 14,150 shillings across the country. In Embu, the legume was being sold at 17,600 shillings, 16,500 shillings in Mombasa, 14,300 shillings in Kitale, 14,200 shillings in Nairobi, 14,000 shillings in Nakuru, 12,600 shillings in Eldoret and 12,000 shillings in Kisumu and Kakamega respectively.

On the other hand, a 90-kilogram bag of green grams was being sold as follows: 13,500 shillings in Eldoret, 12,600 shillings in Kitale, 10,000 shillings in Kisumu, 8,700 shillings in Nairobi, 8,500 shillings in Nakuru and Kakamega respectively and 8,000 shillings in Embu.
