Inflation Rate Hits a Four-Month High in June

The inflation rate for the month of June was the highest in four months with Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) attributing this to higher prices in fuel and charcoal.

According to stats released by KNBS, the inflation for the month of June stood at 4.28 percent, an increase from 3.95 percent the previous month.

The index for water, electricity, water, gas and other fuels rose by 0.52 percent following the increase in kerosene and charcoal.

The index for transport, on the other hand, increased by 0.37 percent attributed to the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel.

The price for charcoal increased to 138 shillings per two kilograms tin with the same going for as much as 160 shillings in some areas in the country.
