John Pombe Magufuli Orders Schools To Reopen On June 29

Either President John Pombe Magufuli of Tanzania is fighting to be on the right side of history or competing with mass deaths and funerals to be on the wrong side of history.

They say when the gods want to destroy you, they first make you and those around you mad. Is John Pombe Magufuli in a self-destructive mode?

At a time when many countries around the world are fighting to control the fast-spreading Covid-19, Magufuli declared Tanzania Covid-19-free and said God had healed all of them through prayers.

He abolished the use of masks, banned daily updates on the pandemic from the Ministry of Health, and ordered people to continue with their lives as normal because there was no Covid-19.

In another controversial order, John Pombe Magufuli has ordered schools to reopen on June 29, 2020, after they were shut down in March this year as a result of Coronavirus.

“Life must go back to normal,” he said and Tanzanians cheered. The order means all schools in the country will resume without any plan, including wearing masks while in schools.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) raised concerns in the manner in which Tanzania was handling Covid-19 saying the number of infections was unknown and those who try to say, are threatened with jail terms.

The United States of America started evacuating its citizens from Tanzania through chartered planes accusing the government of Magufuli for failing to update Tanzanians on Covid-19 confirmed cases.

India has already evacuated its citizens from Tanzania and still calling on those who want to go back to do so with immediate effect. Magufuli has already opened the airspace and banned testing and quarantine of tourists.

Tanzanians believe that their President is right. That Covid-19 is being used by other countries to seek aid from other Western countries. What say you?
