Kenya is the number one country among East African countries in terms of infrastructural deals and developments.

According to a report released by Deloitte which is a financial consultancy, Kenya emerged top in East Africa last year with the highest number of deals involving infrastructures.

The report says that Kenya has undertaken mega real estate projects as well as the Standard Gauge Railway project and which have played a major role in placing Kenya on an economic radar.

According to the report, a total of 61 projects were reported in the Eastern African Region with Kenya accounting for 20 of them. The 61 projects, according to a report by Africa Construction Trends done in the year 2015, were valued at 5.9 trillion shillings. Ethiopia came in second with 12 projects.

The report also placed Kenya as a country in which the construction of large shopping malls as well as commercial offices is going on. The real estate sector has been booming in Kenya for years now with many investors heavily placing their money into the sector. Last year alone, the real estate sector in the country is said to have provided more than 100 percent returns to the investors.

One of the mega project going in the country now is the Standard Gauge Railway that is to link the East African Region in what has been seen as one of the most important projects that will boost the economic activities in the region.

The government has also undertaken other projects like the construction of roads in various places in the country. The recent project has been duped Mwangaza mitaani that is aimed at lighting all the streets of all the major towns in the country in a move to initiate a 24-hour economy in the country.

However, most of these projects might not come to maturity due to the massive corruption that is reigning into the country.
