Investing in a Modernized Plastic Recycling Plant in Nairobi County

Nairobi county is the smallest yet the most populous county in Kenya. its capital is Nairobi, which is also the capital and largest city in Kenya.

It was estimated that Nairobi alone produces 1,530 tonnes of solid waste in a single day. Plastics and other non-biodegradable waste are scattered all over causing great health and environmental concerns. Plastic wastes litter almost every crevice of the metropolis and other urban settlements in the county.

Some kilometers not far away from the CBD, there is the Dandora dumpsite which is the first municipal dumping ground for the city’s solid waste. This is where all industrial, commercial and household wastes are taken to. This area alone is a 30-acre piece of land, which is filed with all sorts of wastes. The area is full of plastic litter from beverage and soft drink companies.

Plastic litter in the environments is of great concern since it can harbor pathogens and propagate diseases from the environment. Plastics hold toxic wastes and chemicals that children or even any other person may come in contact with.

There is an urgent need for a modern plastic recycling plant to be put up in the county. This is the only way of getting rid of the plastic wastes that are scattered everywhere thus causing some health hazards and also leading to environmental pollution.

This plastic litter can as well be turned in cash by converting the wastes into more useful items like bottles, plates and baskets. This is a very good way of cleaning the county as well as making money out of it. An investor will only need a plan on the collection, sorting out and recycling of the plastic waste will be done.

A good collection plan in place will make the recycling process manageable. The collected plastics can be dropped at a specific location where they will be picked and sorted out. The waste plastics will be converted into commercial viable products which in turn utilizes environmentally friendly recycling and manufacturing methods.

An open yard can be the best place for accommodation of the plastic wastes before being sorted out for recycling. People may be engaged in going round and collecting the plastics, as well as inviting people with such items to sell them to you.

Investors have to pick up on such an opportunity and invest their resources on such a modernized plastic recycling plant. With the high number of plastic wastes, this will be a good market for them. The advantage is that Nairobi is an already developed commercial market, thus there is ready market for the recycled items.
