Strathmore University Launches Humanities-based Degree Programs

Strathmore University has launched three bachelor degree programmes that will provide the approaches and solutions to real life issues enabling young graduates to compute, solve problems, and think critically.

Manoah Esipisu, Secretary of Communication, State House Spokesperson and Head of the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU) said the launch of the courses occur in auspicious times, with increase in development, devolution, new technologies thus, the increased need for the public to be communicated to so as to make informed judgments and decisions.

This is the first time the University is launching Social Science-oriented undergraduate programs, which goes to complete the university’s multi-disciplinary learning approach. The new programs include: Development Studies and Philosophy, International Studies and Communication Studies.

The Deputy Head of French Mission in Nairobi Mr. Emmanuel Renoult, in reference to the International Studies, the university had a great investment. “Jump into the waters and learn a foreign language. You have a chance with Strathmore University to do so. It’s a good investment. “

Prof. John Odhiambo, Vice Chancellor Strathmore University, said, “It’s an honour to witness this auspicious occasion. We have always desired to build a university of height and depth, to be among the best and to be broad.”

“These programs will help the country in attaining integral development as aligned within its developmental goals of Vision 2013. They will also create harmony in the community,” he said.

Dean School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Christine Gichure said, “The occasion is a celebration of a birth of triplets, the first ever degree programmes of Arts at Strathmore.”

Enrollment is already open for the programs.

The first class begins in June.
