These are The Characteristics of a Successful Person

Who is a successful person? Is it a person who has lots of money? Is it a person who is a genius in the academic world? Does the term ‘successful’ apart from its usual dictionary meaning have any other meanings especially in the contemporary world?

The society often misinterprets the concept of success and who exactly should be considered as a successful person. In many societies, anyone who has money is considered as successful while in others, anyone who is considered as a genius is the academic world is also considered as successful. The question therefore, is, is it justifiable to categorize an individual as successful simply because he or she has lots of money?

My father used to tell me that people will always listen to a rich man even if he is not wise but will try at all costs to ignore the wisdom of a poor man. He went on to tell me that a rich man always has friends because he is considered successful. A poor man on the other hand, my father told me, has no friends, even his relatives run away from him. This is actually what is happening in many societies where the poor are considered as failures in life while the rich are esteemed into higher places as the successful people in the society.

A successful person is self-disciplined. A successful person knows that there is no first rule to discipline other than that of self-discipline. Self-discipline is the ability an individual having the ability and the power to say YES or NO. It is simply that inner ability to say YES to what has a positive contribution towards propelling you to the land of success. It is about saying NO to what seems attractive and convenient but with little or no impact at all towards enhancing your success story. Self-discipline is all about moving out of your comfort zone and go after whatever you need not because you need to but because you have to.

Successful people don’t do different things. They do what others are doing only that they do them differently. This implies that successful people are not contented with the average way of doing things. They,  therefore, keenly observe what others are doing and how they are doing and then choose to do that same thing differently. So here is a thing being done by two people. One does it because he or she wants to do it the way other people do it. The other one on the other hand does the same thing but in different way above the common average. That who does it differently and different from the rest is a successful
person. Doing things differently means moving out of the pack, moving out of the mob and focusing on the trend that is destined towards the same direction as you.
