Kenya Airports Authority would like to confirm that at 11AM today we successfully conducted a full-scale emergency drill at Kisumu International Airport based on the following scenario;

SCENARIO: A medium sized plane with 40 souls on board has this afternoon crashed while preparing to land at Kisumu International Airport. The international charter flight from the Middle East was originally destined for Nairobi but was diverted to Kisumu due to a technical hitch.

All airports under ICAO regulations and standards are obligated to do such drills once every two years to put to task their level of preparedness and safety standards. It took 120 days to prepare for the exercise, which involved all airport agencies and stakeholders.
