National Bank to Issue Smart Card to Architects & Quantity Surveyors’ Body

National Bank of Kenya has today announced a partnership with Board of Registration of Architectures & quantity surveyors of Kenya (BORAQS), the professional body that regulates the Architects and Quantity Surveyors in Kenya, to offer its members a membership card that also serves as a payment card.

Speaking at an event to sign the deal, National Bank’s CEO & Managing Director Wilfred Musau said the main aim of the partnership was to build on the existing long standing relationship between BORAQS and National Bank that will see the membership of BORAQS benefit from the value added services offered through the card as well as access to other financial services of benefit to the association’s members.

“This partnership seeks to offer a customized solution to BORAQS and its members through the combination of the payment and membership card functions. The BORAQS card will allow members to make purchases at their preferred supermarket, fuel station or restaurant as well as make payments over the internet in any currency. The card will also come with a host of negotiated discounts and lifestyle benefits that will introduce members to a world of convenience,” Mr. Musau said.

“The card is supported by Visa and has a global acceptance in over 200 countries and territories worldwide. The BORAQS card will be offered for at no initial cost with no issuing or annual fees,” Mr. Musau added.

BORAQS Board Chairman Arch. Nathan Kureba, OGW thanked National Bank for the partnership, adding that the deal with go a long way in enhancing the value proposition to BORAQS members countrywide.

“This partnership is a vital development for our organisation and our members as it advances BORAQ’s presence as well as provide all BORAQS members with an easy and convenient way to make payments, while creating more value additions to our members,” said Mr. Kureba.

BORAQS Kenya was established in 1934 under Cap 525 Laws of Kenya. The Board’s mandate is to regulate the professions of Architecture and Quantity Surveying through training, registration and enhancement of ethical practice.
