M-Akiba Investors Receive 7 Million Shillings in Interests

Investors in M-Akiba received a total of 7,502,500 shillings following a disbursement from the National Treasury.

The National Treasury launched the M-Akiba bond, giving Kenyans a chance to buy bonds from as little as 3,000 shillings and 1.13 million shillings.

A total of 150 million shillings were rolled out during the inaugural of the bond with the first interest being disbursed in October 2017.

The M-Akiba bond is tax-free and gives an investor a guaranteed return of 10 percent which is disbursed every six months through M-Pesa or Airtel Money.

Most Kenyans are still, however, not aware of how to subscribe or to invest in the bond with calls on the National Treasury to roll out an awareness program.
