Top 10 Best Airlines For 2019: Singapore Airlines Tops the List

Singapore Airlines has been named as the best carrier in the world for 2019 beating last years winner Air New Zealand which came in second.

AirlineRatings.com – a website that ranks airlines on safety and in-flight experience said that it chose Singapore Airlines as its winner because it came out number one in virtually all of the criteria including financial performance, staff, and operational safety and that it quite simply is ‘gold standard’.

The airline also won the website’s title for having the best first-class cabin with Singapore’s ‘suites’ product praised for being the ‘equivalent of a small hotel room’.

Qantas airline secured the third position due to its customer approval rating which was said to be an all-time high. The carrier continues to innovate with lie-flat beds on all its A330s that operate domestic and regional international flights.

Qatar Airways is named as the fourth best airline followed by Virgin Australia.

Dubai-based Emirates took the sixth position followed by All Nippon Airways (seventh), EVA Air (eighth), Cathay Pacific (ninth) and Japan Airlines (10th).

The best business class award was given to Qatar Airways, due to its Q-suites, the first-ever to feature a double bed and it is also named best for catering.

The best premium economy cabin was won by Air New Zealand while the best economy award was taken by Korea Air.

The most improved airline was said to be Philippine Airlines, best cabin crew, Virgin Australia, best ultra-low-cost carrier VietJet and Emirates named as best for in-flight entertainment.

The winners in the best low-cost category were Westjet (Americas), AirAsia/AirAsia X (Asia-Pacific) and Wizz (Europe).

Emirates (Middle East), EVA Air (Asia-Pacific), Lufthansa (Europe) and Delta (Americas) were named as the top long-haul carriers.

Among the new entrants on this year’s list are Dubai-based Emirates and EVA Air from Taiwan. Airlines that appeared on last year’s list but did not make this one include Virgin Atlantic, Etihad, and Korean Air.

To be named in the top ten, airlines must achieve a seven-star safety rating and demonstrate leadership in innovation for passenger comfort.
