How to Change Your Course and Institution after Placement in Kenyan Universities

BY Soko Directory Team · January 14, 2019 07:01 am

One does not have to join a University that does not serve their interests simply because they have received a letter inviting them; it is possible to change to an institution one prefers through the inter-institution transfer.

It is also a waste of time to pursue a course you are not content with or passionate about when you can easily change to your preferred option online. Below is the process.

Log into the University’s student portal, fill an application form, download and print it.

Take the form to the respective heads in the institutions that you wish to transfer to and seek endorsement before it is submitted to the Placement Service for processing.

During the inter-institution transfer application, one may apply to change both the course and the institution or just the institution.

The online application for the transfers opens and closes within a given period, which is made public; no application is received after the deadline.

KCSE Candidates who score C+ and above are eligible for university. Avoid con artists posing as agents and follow the following steps:

Steps For Changing Institutions:

  1. Log into the student’s portal and follow the prompts outlined on the website.
  2. Successfully follow and complete all the processes outlined in the portal and pay the application fee for the transfer.

Do not pay before completing the process successfully.

  1. The application fee should be paid via a specified M-PESA Pay Bill number stipulated in the portal, NOT into anyone’s private mobile number. After the payment, you will get a confirmation from KUCCPS and MPESA.
  2. The application form should be completed, downloaded and printed and presented to the heads of the two institutions that are concerned. Both institutions should consent, sign and stamp the form.

In case the process is confusing, make sure that you have contacted KUCCPS via their portal.

The universities and colleges can also guide you on how to handle the process.
