Journalist Who Exposed Kenyan Referee Aden Marwa Shot Dead in Accra

Ghanaian journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale Divela is dead. Divela was shot dead on Wednesday night in Accra.

Divela, a committed and courageous Journalist played a key role in this year’s @anasglobal, an investigative piece on international soccer corruption by the Tiger Eye team.

Divela reportedly receiving numerous threats after the investigative piece went viral and led to the disqualification of soccer officials. The Tiger Eye team is led by award-winning journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Ghanian police confirmed that Divela was accosted by thugs in Madina area of Accra on his way home and was fatally shot leading to his death.“The gunmen who were on a motorbike opened fire on Divela’s vehicle, shooting him dead in three live rounds,” Anas, announced the tragic news via his social media.

Divela’s body was taken to the Police Hospital Morgue in preparation for his burial.

Divela’s murder comes in the wake of a video of a Ghanian politician Kennedy Agyapong, threatening the Journalist circulated in the social media.

The Tiger Eye Team covered an investigative story that exposed Kenyan Referee Aden Marwa receiving a $600 bribe leading to Caf handing him a life ban days to World cup where he was set to officiate as a linesman in Russia.

Marwa was an assistant referee at the FIFA 2018 World Cup, a position guaranteed to earn him at least 2.5 Million shillings along with an extra match fee of 200,000 shillings per game. Divela will be remembered for his role in fighting corruption and ensuring justice.
