Top 2013 KCSE Student Found Dead in US University

Norah Jelagat Borus, the Kenyan girl who topped in 2013 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), was found dead at her residence in Stanford University, in the United States of America, under unclear circumstances.

Stanford University President Marc Tessier-Lavigne and Provost Persis Drell confirmed Norah’s death which is reported to have occurred on Friday, June 14th.

According to Ms. Borus’ family spokesman, Mr. Joseph Maswan, who spoke to the Daily Nation on Sunday, June 16, some family members have travelled to the USA to find out the circumstances under which her death occurred.

“The family has received the sad news. Her father and several other family members have traveled to the US to establish the cause of her death,” said Maswan.

USA police have said they have launched investigations to establish the cause of Ms. Borus death, as they gave assurance to the rest of the Stanford University community on their safety.

Ms. Borus death is the fourth reported in Stanford since last February, according to Stanford University’s students’ affairs leader.

The deceased was studying engineering at the University and was an alumnus of Precious Blood Riruta High school.

She was the second-best female student in Nairobi county and fourth best nationally, with 86.977 points.
