Dry Onions Retailing at an Average of Ksh 900 Per 13 Kgs

A spot check in the fresh vegetable market in Nairobi, Nakuru, and Eldoret revealed that dry onions are retailing at an average market price of 900 shillings for a 13-kilogram bag.

In Nairobi, dry onions are being sold at 70 shillings per kilogram, with a 13 kg bag going for 910 shillings. The same 13 kg bag of dry onions is being sold at 750 shillings and 1,040 shillings in Nakuru and Eldoret respectively.

Spring onions, on the other hand, are way less cheap as compared to dry onions, because on average, a kilogram of spring onions is being sold at 12 shillings.

Spring onions are retailing highest in Nairobi, with a 142 Kg bag going for 2,500 shillings, 1,000 shillings and 1,400 shillings in Nakuru and Eldoret respectively.

Tomatoes are retailing highest in Eldoret, at 9,500 shillings for a 64 Kg crate.

In Nairobi and Nakuru, a 64 Kg crate of tomatoes is being sold at a market price of 6,200 and 6,000 shillings respectively.
