Kenyans Saying It As It Is Through Art, The Status Quo Is Terrified

BY Juma · December 17, 2019 03:12 pm

Kenyans seem to be awoken. They now seem to have acquired some instant wisdom. They now seem to see, see far and right through their leaders. Like, Saul, they now seem to have found their true selves on their way to Damascus.

Historically, Kenyans are said to have one of the shortest memories in history. The memory of Kenyans is like that of a warthog, in fact, shorter than that of a warthog. Kenyans always become bright after elections and the wisdom disappears every time they near an election.

Plainly put, Kenyans are fools. They love electing fools then later wonder loudly why and how they did it. Kenyans love hyenas. They like electing hyenas in big offices then loudly wonder why the sheep are disappearing.

The recent poem (song) by King Kaka has left the nation talking. King Kaka called us Wajinga. Wajinga Nyinyi, he said. Interestingly, the whole nation agreed with him. Psychologists say the first process of personal healing is acceptance. We have lived in denial for long. We have now started accepting that we are fools, stupid, ignorant and bewitched.

The question is, will we continue with our newly acquired wisdom until 2022? No. Our warthog-like memory is just around the corner. Within one week, our brains will go back to factory mode and we shall still sing the same songs of the corrupt we are insulting now.

Here is King Kaka. Wajinga Nyinyi, listen and wake up:

King Kaka seems to have inspired more artists. More are coming up, more daring than before, saying it as it and shaking the status quo to the very root. The status quo is now scared. It knows that time is near and that soon, the poor will have nothing to eat but the rich, in this regard, the status quo.

Here is another song called the Minority Report. Listen to it.

Kenya is a corrupt nation. Other nations have the mafia but in Kenya, the mafia has the nation. The country is led by powerful cartels who are always busy looting it to the ground. The cartels who run this country are such powerful that if you dare stand against them, you are either killed or forced into exile.

The cartels are so powerful that if you call them out, they will use the same money they stole and use the same “legal system” to frustrate you. They are protected and sometimes, our protest is just a passing cloud for them.

King Kaka mentioned Waiguru. It is true that Anne Waiguru, now Governor for Kirinyaga County was the head of a ministry when National Youth Service (NYS) Heist took place. Kenyans lost billions of shillings. Then, in her Ministry, a pen cost more than 8,000 shillings. A pen that we buy 20 shillings in the shops.

She is now threatening to sue King Kaka for defamation. Using legal systems to frustrate voices of reason and truth. And the DCI should refuse to be part of the sanitization process. The police force should not accept to be used as an anointing oil for the corrupt. The police force should no that revolution is coming and it has started with the decolonization of the mind.

We are fools because according to a list compiled by the Corruption Tracker, Kenya has lost a whopping 8,084,682,800,000 (8.08 trillion shillings) to corruption under the administration of Jubilee led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.

Do you still remember the laptop scandal? These were funds that had been released for the purchase of laptops for standard one kids in public primary schools as pledged by President Uhuru Kenyatta. Well, the nation lost 24,600,000,000 (24.6 billion shillings). Nobody was arrested. Nobody was jailed.

Do you remember that time in 2018 when the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) could not trace 4.3 billion shillings to pay a Chinese firm that had constructed a terminal? This is a country of magicians. Money just disappears.

Do you remember the hole uncovered by the then Auditor General Edward Ouko at the Ministry of Health worth 11,000,000,000 (11 billion shillings) in 2018? Nobody was arrested. Nobody was jailed.

Why are we fools again?

We are fools because we are singing praises to those who looted more than 22 billion shillings meant for the construction of Aror and Kimwarer Dams. We are calling them heroes and “our sons” and “daughters.”

We are fools because we have praised those who looted National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) and use the money meant to pay farmers. We are fools because when there was time, we did not speak.

We are fools because a few years ago we were singing Tano Tena and now that it is Tano Terror, we are crying more than those who did not sing the song.
