Groundnuts Retailing Highest in Kitale at Ksh 134 per Kg

A spot check carried out by Sokodirectory in Nairobi, Nakuru and Kitale markets has revealed that a kilogram of groundnuts is retailing at an average of 130 shillings.

Kitale recorded the highest price for groundnuts where a 90 Kg bag is retailing at 12,060 shillings and a kilogram being sold at 134 shillings. Traders in Kitale are buying groundnuts at a wholesale price of 11,700 shillings, so for every kilogram, they sell in retail, they make a profit of 4 shillings on the commodity.

The price of groundnuts in Nairobi is 11,520 shillings, the lowest price of the three markets analyzed, with a kilogram of the commodity being sold at only 128 shillings. Vendors in Nairobi are making a profit of 5 shillings for every kilogram of groundnuts, after buying the commodity at a wholesale price of 11,070 shillings.

In Nakuru, a 90 Kg bag of groundnuts is being sold at 11,700 shillings, meaning that a kilogram is being sold for 130 shillings. The wholesale price of the commodity in Nakuru is 11,430 shillings.

For Green grams, the retail price in Nairobi and Nakuru is the same, where a 90 Kg bag of the commodity is being sold at 11,700 shillings.

In Kitale, green grams are retailing at an extremely high price of 14,040 shillings for every 90Kgs.
