Ten Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) staff have been sent into mandatory quarantine after they came into contact with a number of foreigners who tested positive for COVID-19.

The ten KRA members of staff who are now in mandatory quarantine are reported to have come into contact with the foreigners while at their place of work in the Mombasa port.

Several other employees of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) staff were quarantined at the Bandari Maritime Academy.

KRA and KPA staff have since been advised to cease receiving paperwork from third parties in a move aimed at combating the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Kenya has 189 total confirmed COVID-19 cases according to a briefing done by the Ministry of Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on the 10th of April 2020.

Kenya has 22 total number of recoveries after 10 more patients tested negative twice for COVID-19 leading to their discharge from the Mbagathi Isolation center on 10th April 2020.

As Kenyans celebrate the Easter holidays, they are urged to stay indoors to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

“The true meaning of Easter is victory over death. Let’s re-dedicate ourselves to the fight of our times,” CS Kagwe said warning Kenyans against the handling of cash and the need to practice the set-out guidelines.

Kenyans are also urged to avoid the exchange of physical monies and maximize mobile money by the Health CS. Globally, 365,000 people have so far recovered according to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.

More than 100,000 medical workers, 4,000 doctors have received training online on managing COVID-19 and Kenya has improved its testing capability to 600 tests a day according to CS Kagwe.

Users of public or private transport and Passenger Service Vehicles are now required by the law to wear a proper mask that must cover the mouth and nose or risk a fine not exceeding 20,000 shillings or spend six months in prison.

A gazette notice published in the local dailies states that a person who contravenes the rule on wearing a mask will be committing a legal offense that will attract dire consequences such as six months in prison.
