COVID-19: Kenya Now Has 189 Confirmed Cases, 22 Recoveries

Kenya has reported five new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours after testing 504 samples raising the confirmed total number to 189.

The five who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the country include four who have no history of travel at all and one who has a history of travel from the UAE.

The five who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in Kenya include three from Mombasa, one from Nairobi and another one from Nyandarua.

The five who have tested positive for coronavirus are between 27 and 58 years of age, three are males while two are females.

The number of recoveries in Kenya has risen to 22 after 10 more and has tested negative twice for COVID-19 leading to their discharge from the Mbagathi Isolation center.

2,054 contacts have been traced and are currently under isolation with the Ministry of Health announcing that today, Friday marks the 30th day since Kenya announced its first coronavirus case.

“Indeed, our ways of life have changed dramatically. Good Friday would have been that special day when we congregate with family and friends, but this day is different,” Kagwe noted.

“The true meaning of Easter is victory over death. Let’s re-dedicate ourselves to the fight of our times,” CS Kagwe said warning Kenyans against the handling of cash and the need to practice the set-out guidelines.

Kenyans are urged to avoid the exchange of physical monies and maximize mobile money by the Health CS. Globally, 365,000 people have so far recovered according to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.

“A guideline will be sent to the counties and Kenyans have been urged to follow it, “CS Kagwe has said on the disposal of the face masks.

More than 100,000 medical workers, 4,000 doctors have received training online on managing COVID-19 and Kenya has improved its testing capability to 600 tests a day according to CS Kagwe.

Test kits have been delivered to enable automatic testing and Friday will be the first day they are used.

The hiring of the 5,000 health workers will be done by the counties through the County Service Board.

“We have refused to give up and we will see the end of COVID-19 pandemic in Kenya,” Uhuru said in a statement on 10th April 2020.

“We have always found inspiration in ourselves and each other to find the sunshine after the storm. We must come together by staying apart and breaking the chain of infection,” Uhuru said
