Here Are Areas To Go Without Water In Nairobi From Wednesday

Most estates in Nairobi to go without water starting Wednesday.

From Wednesday 3rd February, a number of estates in Nairobi specifically to customers served from Kabete Water Works are set to experience water shortage according to Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company.

According to the Public Notice issued on Monday,  the company said that it will be shutting down the water supply to allow the upgrade of the Uthiri Pumps and Dagoretti Pump Stations.

Areas to be affected are:

  • Riruta
  • Kawangware
  • Dagoretti Corner
  • Ngando
  • Kilimani
  • City Mortuary
  • Kenyatta National Hospital
  • Nairobi Hospital
  • Coptic Hospital
  • State House
  • Department of Defense headquarters
  • Lavington
  • Kileleshwa
  • Kibera
  • Forces Memorial Hospital.

Others include Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Golf Course Estate, Kenyatta Market, Karen, areas along Gatanga Road, Lang’ata Estates, Makadara, KWS, St Mary’s Hospital, Strathmore University, Wilson Airport, among others.

The shortage is expected to last for a day and end on Thursday, February 2021 at 6 in the evening. The company said the pumping station situated at Kabete Waterworks is being upgraded to pump an additional 25000M3 of water to Karen, Riruta, Satelite, Kawangware, and Uthiru areas.

Residents in the affected areas have been advised to reserve and use water sparingly before and during the period of interruption.

Upgrading of the Kabete pumping station to produce an additional 42 million liters from the current 30 million liters per day is part of the Modification project. A 500,000-litre tank and pumping station at Kenya High School is also under construction.
