How To Change A Misspelt Name And Replace A Lost KCSE/KCPE Certificate

The Kenya National examination council issues certificates to candidates after successfully completing their exams. However, there may be instances where you need to change your name on the Certificate.

So how do you change your name on the KNEC Certificate legally? If you’re the owner of such certificates then you are supposed to apply for a name amendment through the school where you sat for your KCSE or KCPE examinations.

Requirements

  1. A written letter from the principal or the headteacher of your previous school
  2. A copy of your birth certificate
  3. A copy of your result slip

For a successful replacement of a lost certificate, the following requirements apply

  1. A written letter from your previous school head confirming he had been issued with the original document
  2. A police abstract indicating that the original document is lost.
  3. A sworn legal affidavit of the identity of the applicant
  4. A copy of your National ID
  5. A processing fee of 5000 Kenyan shillings

Procedure

  1. Visit the KNEC website
  2. Click on the certificate replacement and confirmation
  3. Select application for replacement of certificates
  4. Download the dully filled form and together with the requirements and submit to the Chief Executive Officer KNEC through this postal address: P.O BOX 73598- – 00200, City Square Nairobi.

If you sat for your examinations in a private school or one which is currently closed down, you will be required to get a letter recommending the replacement form DEO/PDE.
