TSC faced a lot of opposition and criticism when it introduced the employment of teachers under internship contracts. The criticism was both from within and outside the education sector whereby some Kenyans even took the matter to court with an intention of having the whole exercise canceled.
Among the top concerns that brought commotion on the issue of employing teachers under internship contracts was poor salary pay for the intern teachers.
Secondary school intern teachers’ salaries will remain unchanged, with only two deductions: Ksh 200.00 for the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and Ksh 750.00 for the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) (NHIF). Ksh 950.00 is the total amount deducted. After all deductions, the teacher receives Ksh. 24, 050 to take home.
Primary school students will have two deductions from their pay: Ksh 200.00 for the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and Ksh 750.00 for the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) (NHIF). Ksh 950.00 will be deducted as a total. After all deductions have been made, the teacher takes home Ksh. 19,050.00.
How to apply for TSC Internship opportunities for Primary school teachers:
- Visit the TSC Website by using the link http://hrmis.tsc.go.ke
- From the Menu, select Careers followed by Teachers/ Secretariat. Next, click on ‘Apply for Teachers Internship Position.’
- In the screen displayed, Type in the TSC No, ID number, and mobile and choose your selection either primary or secondary by clicking the drop-down menu as shown below and click ok.
- An SMS from TSC will be sent to your line. Type in the SMS code and click ‘OK’
- In the displayed, Click on Apply/view. Fill in your details, correctly.
- Next, Choose the Ref from the drop-down and fill in the other details not auto-filled, and click ok. Click ‘YES’ on the next screen.
- A screen will then be displayed showing the list of applications done by applicants.
How to apply for TSC Internship opportunities for Secondary school teachers:
- Visit the TSC Website by using the link http://hrmis.tsc.go.ke
- From the Menu, select Careers followed by Teachers/ Secretariat. Next, click on ‘Apply for Teachers Internship Position.’
- In the screen displayed, Type in the TSC No, ID number, and mobile and choose your selection either primary or secondary by clicking the drop-down menu as shown below and click ok.
- An SMS from TSC will be sent to your line. Type in the SMS code and click ‘OK’
- In the displayed, Click on Apply/view. Fill in your details, correctly.
- Choose the Ref from the drop-down list as shown and fill in the other details not auto-filled and click ok.
- Click the button +click here to apply to a school.
- Choose the subjects, county, sub-county, and school and click ok.
- The teacher can apply for several vacancies. CLICK OK.
- When done, a pop-up screen ‘Job Application’ will be displayed. Click on ‘Yes’ to submit your application.
