Here Is The List Of Top Avocado Exporters In Kenya

Kenya is the sixth-largest exporter of avocado globally and Africa’s top exporter. The key buyers for Kenyan avocados are the Netherlands, the United Arabs Emirates, France, Spain, Russia, and the United Kingdom.

Avocadoes accounted for 84.48 percent of Kenyan fruits exported 2017/18 financial year. Murang’a leads in the production of avocado with more than 80 percent of the produce destined for the export market. The following companies are the top exporters of avocados in Kenya.

  1. Kakuzi Limited

Kakuzi Limited is a renowned company that produces, packs, and export avocadoes. The first grade the fruit to track any fruit with physical defects that may deteriorate its quality. The avocadoes are then weight-sized and packed into cartons of either 4 kg or 10 kg.

The packed fruits are then stored in cold temperatures in preparation for export, where they are shipped in refrigerated containers. All these activities – from picking to exporting take an average of 30 days.

  1. Vegpro Kenya

The company is a major exporter of fruits to Europe. The Nairobi-based company also sells the products directly to the local Kenyan market.

  1. Sunripe

Sunripe processes and markets fresh and frozen avocadoes in over 20 countries in the world. It exported the first avocadoes in 1972. The company has certified food processing sites in Limuru and Naivasha. It is one of the most preferred horticultural processors and marketers in Kenya.

  1. Kenya Horticultural Exporters

The company is one of the leading horticultural exporters. It has enabled over 2,500 small farmers to access European markets with their production of international standards. They have sites in Naivasha, Nairobi, Mwea, Rupingazi, and Nanyuki where 90 percent of their production goes to the UK market.

  1. East African Growers

They are the leading growers, processors, packers, and exporters of grade one vegetables, fruits, and flowers to the European market.

  1. Biofarms Limited

It’s a commercial grower, packer, and exporter of premium organic and conventional fresh fruits from Kenya. The company produces, processes, packages, and supplies premium quality for the international export market at scale and a level of service that matters. It is located in Nairobi.

The others include Keitt Exporters Limited, Mofarm Fresh Fruits Exporters, Benok Exporters Ltd, Lagran Group Limited, Key Export Company Limited, and the Avocado Society of Kenya.
