The new features come barely 4 months after the instant messaging app which has a userbase of 2 billion launched new features that allow users to exit groups without letting anyone know. The admin is usually inadvertently notified once a member exits, adding weight to the user’s privacy.

When you are thinking about which app to use to make an online meeting, the first option that comes into your mind is Google meet or zoom.

Whatsapp was previously seen as an instant messaging app primarily used for texting your contacts and video calling one or two of your contacts.

Whatsapp founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg seem to be raising the profile of the app’s video capability and WhatsApp might soon be your next option for online video meetings.

After months of testing Whatsapp has finally started rolling out its new community features in the world. Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday announced a major update that will allow WhatsApp users to connect in various groups.

The feature will allow users to have separate groups under one “Community” to organize group conversations on the Meta-owned instant messaging service.

“Today we’re launching Communities on WhatsApp. It makes groups better by enabling sub-groups, multiple threads, announcement channels, and more. We’re also rolling out polls and 32-person video calling too. All secured by end-to-end encryption so your messages stay private,” he said.

The 32-person calling feature was initially limited to voice calls only, but now you can connect with 32 people simultaneously via video call. The app only supported video calling with up to 8 people.

“To get started, users can tap on the new communities tab at the top of their chats on Android and at the bottom on iOS. From there, users will be able to start a new Community from scratch or add existing groups. Once in a community, users can easily switch between available groups to get the information you need, when they need it, and admins can send important updates to everyone in the Community,” it said.

Other features that the instant messaging app boss announced include in-chat polls and groups with up to 1,024 users. The company has been working with over 50 organizations in 15 countries to help communities meet their needs, a move that has been welcomed with applause by users. The new features will not only be useful to family members but also for large organizations and small businesses in discussing important matters.

The new features come barely 4 months after the instant messaging app which has a userbase of 2 billion launched new features that allow users to exit groups without letting anyone know. The admin is usually inadvertently notified once a member exits, adding weight to the user’s privacy.
