“This looks like an incident committed by people who knew what they wanted and knew there were no police officers in the compound,” Bungei said.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

"Aisha Jumwa had not informed the police in Gigiri or Nairobi Area that she acquired this house and moved there. That would explain why there were no armed police on duty there.”

Armed thugs broke into the Public Service, Affirmative Action, and Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa’s Nairobi, Loresho home and stole at least 1.1 million shillings, gold, and other jewelry. The police have described them as “buglers.”

Reports from the police indicate that the thugs spent at least 5 hours in the house terrorizing family members and asking for money and cash. They are said to have left at 5 am on Wednesday and they “seemed not in a hurry, like they knew what they were doing.”

Aisha Jumwa was not at home when the incident happened. Guards who were on duty were missing and they are believed to have been part of the gang. The police have launched a manhunt for them with the jewelry being the leading factor.

It has also emerged that there were no armed police at the house because apparently, Aisha Jumwa “had not informed the police in Gigiri or Nairobi Area that she acquired this house and moved there. That would explain why there were no armed police on duty there.”

Nairobi regional police commander Adamson Bungei said they suspect the attackers knew the house well. He said they are investigating the incident and are looking for the guards who were on duty for questioning.

“This looks like an incident committed by people who knew what they wanted and knew there were no police officers in the compound,” Bungei said.

The robbery incident comes a few days after that when thugs broke into the house of Chief Minister Musalia Mudavadi and stole a television set. Although the stories about the incident were killed before seeing the light, sources confirmed that the robbery happened.
