KEY POINTS

Students seeking to study for a diploma in education will need a C plain or C- in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), down from the previous C+. Meanwhile, those seeking a certificate in education (popularly known as P1), will need a D+, down from a C plan.

Teaching is still one of the most rewarding career choices. While being a teacher is demanding, you have the opportunity to make a genuine difference. If you aspire to become a teacher, you can enroll in any teacher training course, TTC. There are several courses that one can pursue to fulfill the dream of being a teacher.

Students wishing to become primary and secondary school teachers have every reason to smile because the qualifications for joining Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) have been lowered. Under the revised guidelines, students who scored D+ can join TTCs.

According to the new rules, students seeking to study for a diploma in education will need a C plain or C- in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), down from the previous C+. Meanwhile, those seeking a certificate in education (popularly known as P1), will need a D+, down from a C plan.

Diploma Teachers Training Colleges train professional teachers for secondary education. Their intakes occur yearly and placements of KCSE students are done by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

Not all students are, though, placed by KUCCPS. If you did not apply via KUCCPS, you should not be worried as there is a second chance

If you were not placed by KUCCPS, you can still secure a chance at any of the TTCs. Just, scan and send your KCSE Results Slip or Certificate to the preferred TTC. Your results slip will be verified before you are instructed on how to get your admission letter
