Super Metro Offers Free Rides To Its Customers, Announces New Routes

BasiGo plans to supply over 1,000 locally manufactured mass transit electric buses to transport operators in Kenya over the next three years.

Super Metro Matatu Sacco has announced that Commuters plying the Kahawa West route will now have a chance to catch free rides following their announcement on Monday, April 17.

According to the statement, Super Metro Sacco announced that it launched a new fleet of matatus to ply a new route, the Nairobi Central Business (CBD) to Kahawa West. As a result, passengers would enjoy free rides on the route from morning to evening as a means of welcoming new customers on board.

“Today, we officially commenced our services in Kahawa West. As a way of thanking, you the Kahawa West fraternity, we are offering you free rides to and fro.”

“Kindly note that we have more than 100 new fleets that we shall distribute in all our different routes. Our main aim is to serve you our esteemed clients better and better,” the statement read in part.

Commuters were advised to access the buses at either the Sacco’s main stage at commercial or at Kahawa West roundabout. The Sacco has been on a rapid expansion plan and is currently dominating a number of key routes in a bid to stamp its authority in the industry.

In February 2023, announced the introduction of its first electric bus as part of its fleet. At the time, the electric bus would ply Waiyaki Way and make stops at Westlands, Kangemi, Uthiru, and Kinoo.

This was, however, expanded to other routes including Kitengela, Ngong, Thika Road, and Imara Daima among others.

Super Metro’s CEO, Nelson Mwangi affirmed that five more electric buses would be added to the market by the end of June 2023. He explained that the move is aimed at setting the standards in the public service sector.

“We are partnering with the Nairobi County Government to bring order and sanity. We are also helping Nairobians to move to different destinations by offering excellent and quality services,” Mwangi recently
