Kenyan Shilling Sinks Again, Falls The Lowest To The Dollar

The Kenyan shilling has continued to fall against the US Dollar. On Monday, the local currency opened the week by weakening 0.10 percent against the US Dollar to close at 137.63 (-11.55 percent year-to-date).

At the same time, the local currency weakened by 0.17 percent against the Pound to close at 171.15 (-15.28 percent year-to-date). Against the Euro, the shilling weakened by 0.10 percent to close at 148.66 (-13.25 percent year-to-date).

Total equity turnover dropped by 53.93 percent to close at USD 0.86 MN (118.92 million shillings ) compared to Friday’s turnover of USD 1.88 million (258.16 million shillings).

NSE 20 and NASI dropped by 0.43 percent and 0.78 percent to close at 1,461.57 and 97.75 respectively.
