TSC Announces Vacancies For Teachers, Qualifications, Deadline And How To Apply

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially announced a nationwide recruitment drive to fill 2,014 vacancies left by teachers who have exited the service through natural attrition across various public learning institutions.
According to TSC, the vacancies are spread across primary, junior, and secondary schools, marking a significant opportunity for qualified educators seeking permanent employment within the teaching profession.
In an official statement released on its website, TSC disclosed that the available positions include 1,309 vacancies in public primary schools, 32 positions in junior schools, and 673 vacancies in secondary schools.
The recruitment exercise aims to maintain adequate staffing levels and ensure the continuity of learning in public institutions, which have been affected by the departure of teachers due to retirement, resignation, or other natural causes of attrition.

According to TSC, the successful candidates will be employed on permanent and pensionable terms, granting them job security and access to retirement benefits as outlined in the Commission’s employment policies.
The Commission emphasized that preference during the hiring process will be given to applicants who have never been employed by the TSC before, a measure aimed at opening doors for fresh entrants into the teaching service and promoting inclusivity.
The Commission further clarified that all applications must be submitted electronically through its designated online portals, underscoring that no manual applications will be accepted. Interested candidates are required to complete their applications by Monday, 19th May 2025.
“Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the Teachers Service Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke under the ‘Careers’ section or through teachersonline.tsc.go.ke not later than Monday, 19th May 2025 at midnight,” the statement read.
Additionally, TSC highlighted that applicants must ensure they meet the required qualifications and adhere to the application guidelines. Shortlisted candidates will be required to present original copies of their academic and professional certificates during the selection process.
The Commission issued a stern warning against submitting multiple applications for the same recruitment, noting that such actions would lead to automatic disqualification.
“Successful candidates must not fill more than one Application for Employment Form. Filling two or more Application for Employment Forms will lead to disqualification,” the statement further emphasized.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be Kenyan citizens and registered teachers with the Teachers Service Commission.
Those applying for primary school positions must hold a P1 certificate, while applicants targeting junior and secondary school positions must possess a diploma in education from a recognized institution.
In light of rising cases of fraud related to job recruitment in the country, the Commission issued a cautionary note to all prospective applicants, warning them against falling victim to individuals or groups purporting to facilitate the recruitment process for a fee.
“The recruitment exercise is free of charge. The Teachers Service Commission forewarns applicants against fraudsters who might extort money from unsuspecting persons purporting to assist in recruitment,” the Commission stated.
TSC also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, fairness, and inclusivity in the recruitment process, noting that the 2024/2025 recruitment guidelines will govern the exercise. The Commission encouraged persons with disabilities to apply, in line with the constitutional provisions promoting equal employment opportunities for all citizens.
As the application deadline approaches, the Teachers Service Commission urged all qualified candidates to submit their applications promptly and ensure they comply with all outlined requirements.
The Commission reiterated its dedication to upholding merit-based recruitment to enhance the quality of education in the country and support the delivery of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) across all levels of learning.
This recruitment initiative by TSC is expected to bridge staffing gaps in public schools, ultimately improving teacher-to-student ratios and contributing to better learning outcomes nationwide.
