KNEC Open Application For KJSEA, KCSE Examiners Training, Fee And How To Apply

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially opened applications for examiner training ahead of the October and November national examinations, setting in motion preparations for the marking of two key assessments in the country’s education calendar.
In a public notice, KNEC announced that it will conduct a comprehensive training programme targeting teachers who wish to serve as examiners for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
The training is scheduled to take place between March and April 2026, giving successful applicants adequate time to prepare for the marking exercise later in the year.
KNEC revealed that only shortlisted applicants will proceed to the training stage. Those selected will be required to pay a non-refundable training fee of Ksh10,500. However, candidates have been cautioned not to make any payments unless they receive an official notification confirming their selection. The confirmation will be communicated via SMS and through updates on the official examiners’ application portal.
The training programme will adopt a blended learning approach, combining both online and residential components. Shortlisted trainees will first receive instructions on how to access digital training materials and complete preliminary modules before attending the face-to-face residential sessions.
KNEC emphasized that the residential training will be strictly compulsory and fully residential. This means participants will be required to stay at the designated training venue for the entire duration of the physical sessions. Details regarding the specific venues will be communicated directly to qualified applicants at a later date.
Upon successful completion of the training, examiners will be considered for engagement by KNEC to mark KJSEA and KCSE examinations. However, actual deployment will depend on the personnel needs for each paper and adherence to the recruitment criteria set by the council. Completing the training does not automatically guarantee assignment, but it qualifies the examiner for consideration.
For the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), KNEC has listed several papers open for examiner training. These include:
