Airtel Kenya emphasizes its commitment to 3.75G network quality upgrade in Nairobi

Airtel Kenya has reiterated that it is working to improve the quality of its 3.75G network performance in Nairobi in order to provide a stronger signal and faster data speeds to its customers.

The company has confirmed that the network upgrade in Nairobi has started in order to allow customers to continue accessing uninterrupted quality of service. The project involves UMTS 900 Mhz spectrum upgrade which will significantly enhance indoor coverage penetration and improves data quality for Airtel 3.75G network users.

In February this year, the company announced that it had invested Ksh. 2.5 billion to upgrade its network. Airtel users are now enjoying uninterrupted quality of service on Airtel network in Mombasa and Kitale, following a major modernization of its network infrastructure that was completed in February. The company partnered with Nokia Networks, one of the world’s leading specialists in mobile broadband for this upgrade project.

“The completion of the network upgrade in Mombasa and Kitale town now gives our customers a delightful experience, allowing them to take advantage of our superior services such as Airtel #UnlimiNet, amongst a bouquet of other data services,” said Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi.

Mr. El Youssefi added that with Nairobi’s upgrade underway and due to be completed soon, the company remains committed to ensure that customers remain connected to a modern and reliable and superior network in the market, with the best overall customer experience for internet browsing and calling.

The network upgrade also makes Airtel Kenya’s network 4G LTE ready. In November last year, Airtel Africa launched 4G in Seychelles and Rwanda, making the two countries amongst the first in sub Saharan Africa to commercially deploy the 4G network technology.

In India, Bharti Airtel was the first operator to launch the 4G service, making it one of the first countries in the world to commercially deploy this cutting-edge technology.

Airtel currently has the widest 3.75G footprint in Africa, with the 17 countries that Airtel operates connected to 3G services.
