Entrepreneurs always worry about how their companies are faring and they tend to forget about what makes the company run smoothly, that is, the people or the team.

A happy work environment attracts good people and helps the people who work for you do the best for the company.

Establish a connection. Happy employees enjoy being in the office. People should go home each day feeling heard. Participate in events that give back to your community and involve the team in this practice. It could be a marathon to raise money for the blind or people with Cancer, people will work together to make something good out of it, as an employer you will have killed two birds with one stone encouraging teamwork and winning for that charitable cause.

It is natural to focus on relevant experience and past achievements when hiring, but ignoring the personality is a mistake. Hiring people who are going to help make your workplace happier will take a little thought and preparation.

Encouraging people to greet to each other is a good way to build a sense of workplace community and something that busy, focused people forget. Acknowledging people can change the entire atmosphere and make your workplace be a better place.

Plan for fun events that make the workplace happier. Like going for camping outside the city or having lunch outside the office in a hotel, anything to make people feel that you are doing something nice for them will make people feel happier.

It’s always important to show the employees that you care for them. It makes people happy to be asked how they are or asked about their physical health. It’s so bad when people work while feeling unwell. Employers should offer sick leave to the affected.

Focus on the positive. That doesn’t mean that you should ignore the things that need to be improved on, it just means being optimistic.

Challenge your employees to leave their comfort zones, For instance, Google become one of the most innovative companies in the industry, by creating room in their business model for experimentation and for failure. Google’s “fail fast” policy encourages employees to be constantly experimenting, provided they quickly identify and address what doesn’t work.

Always compensate employees for the work they put in, this makes employees feel like they’re sharing in the company’s success.
