KAM Collaborates with CRA in Policy Document Launch

The Kenya Association of Manufacturers in collaboration with CRA today launched the Economic Policy Framework and Constitutional and Legislative policy instructing drafting of county revenue legislations and laws in Kenya.

The event held at the Windsor Golf and Country Club themed “Doing Business with Counties,” to unlock counties potential in own revenue generation and will see the government secure gains in business as outlined in the Constitution of Kenya. This forum was well attended by both the national and county governments.

As one of the resolutions and way forward, CRA and the Kenya Association of Manufacturers told county governments to review and develop suitable revenue legislation that would boost revenue collection and assist counties to attract and retain investors.

In addition to the laws that were developed for all 47 counties and which were forwarded to all 47 counties vide CRA circular no.6/2015, two additional policy guidelines have been developed namely: –

  1. Economic policy framework instructing drafting of county revenue legislation
  2. Constitutional and legislative policy instructing the drafting of county revenue laws in Kenya.

The Kenya Association of Manufacturers aims at making doing business easy and creating an enabling business environment for members.

With the devolved government system, multiple legislations and requirements by different counties has led to increased cost of doing business. The purpose of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers’s engagement with CRA is to ensure that intercounty trade is facilitated through harmonized county revenue laws, elimination of double taxation among others.
