Be the Manager Your Business Deserves

As the owner of a business, you also act as the manager of that business. As the manager, therefore, there is a great possibility that any failure on your part could lead to the failure of the company. A good manager has the interests of the customers, the product and the employees at heart and never lets them out of sight.
A good manager has a vision and a goal that he or she wishes to accomplish and always, feels satisfied upon accomplishing that goal or vision that he or she has set. Remember, there is a thin line between managers and leaders. Someone once said that managers do things right and leaders do the right thing.
The customer is the best thing any business can have. As a manager, therefore, you have to always strive in making sure that you never lose a customer. Losing a customer should be a matter of life and death. In fact, you have to deeply grief in your heart every time you lose a customer.
What should you do then to maintain your customer? Take your business as a house, you the husband and the customer is your wife. Ask yourself what is the most valuable thing in a relationship? Communication. Having the best communication skills is the best bait that will always keep your customers around you. The Swahili people call this skill as kuwa na nyama ya ulimi which is literary translated as feeding people using your tongue. Your customers are in a constant need of information concerning your business, concerning your products and concerning any changes in your products and services. You have to, therefore, make sure that there is a continuous flow of information to your customers concerning your products and services including such small matters as the introduction of a full stop in your company name.
Many business especially financial institutions that used to be associated mainly with finances have now embraced the skill of communication. They know that their customers are human beings and therefore, often strive to appeal to their emotions. Nowadays is normal to wake up with a message from your bank, “Good morning, Juma Bank would like to wish you a blessed day. We value you and your finances.” Do you think such a customer will think of moving out of such a bank? No.
As a manager, know your customers, what they like and what they hate and the type of communication that they need. Be a good communicator and if you can’t, then hire somebody to do it for you. Myles Munroe once said that great leaders are ordinary people; they accomplish ordinary things because circumstance made a demand on their potential. As a manager, you do not have to accomplish extraordinary things but is all about accomplishing ordinary things in an extraordinary way.
You have to keep your eyes and ears out for any talent and be ready to grab it before your competitor does. You should, therefore, be out to invest in talent as this will result in the best business synergy as well as the overall creativity and the innovations concerning your products and services. You should never miss the vision and mission of integrating the pertinent internal functions of your business or your company such as sales, marketing, innovations as well as finances to the high outcomes in terms of performance of your business or the company.
Know that your business is not operating in a vacuum. Your business is operating in a world of competition. You should, therefore, know that your customers could only be sticking to your products and services simply because there is nothing else better on the market. This simply implies that in the presence of anything that would prove better than what you are offering, your customers will be off and you will be left alone, frustrated.
