Results for 1,205 candidates who sat for the 2017 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams have been canceled due to cheating.

According to the Kenya National Examination Council Chairman George Magoha, the cancellation has affected a total of nine centers.

The affected candidates are required to register afresh for the exams before February 28th.

“It is therefore regrettable that in total 1,205 candidates in nine of the ten centers alleged to have been involved in examination irregularities have had their examination results canceled,” said Magoha.

The Chairman further disclosed that out of the nine centers that were affected, for schools had massive evidence of irregularities where all candidates were found to have colluded.

A tenth school whose results were also withheld has however been cleared of suspicion with Magoha declining to reveal the identities of the affected schools.

A total of 615,773 candidates registered for the 2017 National Examinations that were done in 9,350 centers between November 6 and 29.
