Safaricom PLC has announced new M-Pesa tariffs in line with the Finance Bill, 2018 and the Provisional Collection of Taxes and Duties Act.
While reading the national budget to the nation, Treasury CS Henry Rotich had proposed a 2 percent increase from 10 percent to 12 percent for all mobile money transactions.
According to a statement from Safaricom, the new tariffs will take effect on July 1st with the charges ranging from one to three shillings.
For those who have been taking advantage of sending 100 shillings free of charge, the transactions have now been limited to three per day with an additional charge of 1 shilling for amounts between 1 shillings and 49 shillings, and 2 shillings for amounts between 50 shillings and 100 shillings.
