DusitD2 Hotel to Re-launch in June after the Terror Attack

DusitD2 Hotel is set to re-launch its services in June after a terror attack in January that left 21 people dead including four employees at the hotel and two security guards attached to the hotel.
The hotel re-opened in January but looks at introducing new dining concepts and planning a series of community events.
DusitD2 was closed down on 15 January following the bloody terror attack at 14 Riverside Complex. Most of the offices at the complex re-opened their doors two weeks after the attack.
“The spirit of determination that runs through the entire 14 Riverside community is heartening to see, and the support from everyone has been, and continues to be, incredible,” read part of the statement from the hotel management.
DusitD2 opened its doors in Kenya in 2014 and has been voted among the best in different forums both within and without Kenya.

The Hunt for Terror Suspects
The hunt for those who took part in the planning and attack of 14 Riverside Drive is ongoing. Already more than 10 suspects have been arrested and arraigned in court and are still being held by police as investigations go on.
Officers from the DCI raided offices of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and arrested some officials over the double registration of a car that was used by the terrorists during the 14 Riverside attack.
It was revealed that the car used during the attack had a fake registration number plate that was issued by NTSA and the police are still holding the person said to have issued the registration.

How To Check if your car Number Plate is double registered
After confusion arose in a duplicated car number plate case during investigations into the DusitD2 Complex, it is only wise that private car owners look into verifying their car’s registration.
It is important to do an NTSA/KRA check on the registration status of a vehicle before purchasing it to ensure its legality.
An online check can be done expediently to track the registration progress of a vehicle at the comfort of one’s phone.
To carry out an NTSA Car Search, one is required to have an e-Citizen account. To acquire an e-Citizen account, one should register at the e-Citizen portal using their National Identity Number. The process of registering for an e-citizen account is free.
mVERIFIED is another reliable application which has the interface that is user-friendly and spends an estimated 15 minutes to run a full vehicle registration search.
mVERIFIED eases the long wait in endless queues and offers the KRA logbook and legal document search solutions for all authenticated users in a timely manner regardless.
mVERIFIED uses Lipa na M-PESA as an acceptable payment mode which is available to all registered Safaricom customers.
The search on the status of legal documents has now been simplified through mVERIFIED. KRA logbook status can easily be determined at the comfort of one’s space through the use of computers and smartphones unlike in previous times when one had to make countless trips to Government offices to follow up on long complicated procedures.

The government has put in place various security measures including an operation to unearth Al-Shabaab recruiter in the North Eastern part of the country. There is also a suggestion of arming private security guards with guns so that they can help in boosting security.
