How to Conveniently Pay for Your Parking in Nairobi’s CBD

Not long ago, paying for parking fees in Nairobi used to be quite a hassle. It involved bribes or driving around the city looking for a perfect spot to park your vehicle. Well, that is over now. Today you can conveniently pay for your parking using eJijipay.

eJijipay is a platform designed to allow Nairobians pay their bills conveniently. Apart from allowing one to pay for other bills like rent, it also offers a convenient way for you to pay for your parking.

Sign up for eJijipay

The first step to your convenient parking begins with eJijipay registration. This can be done through:

• the dialing of the USSD code *217# and following the prompts
• Using the Nairobi City County Mobile App

• Or navigate to the website www.epayments.nairobi.go.ke and filling in the required details.

The complete registration gives you an e-wallet, which you can also access through the three methods.

Loading your e-wallet

Payments made through the eJijipay system comes from your e-wallet, which after the registration process is done, you must load it using M-PESA, Airtel Money, T-kash, Visa among others.

To top up your e-wallet:

• Dial *217# and select ‘My Account’
• Follow the instructions.

The Pay Bill number for eJijipay is 147147. You can use your phone as the account number if you are using the mobile top-up option. If you encounter any problem, you can call for customer support through phone number 0709920000.

How to pay for parking using eJijipay

Using any mobile USSD:

• Dial *217#, and select option 2, which is Parking
• Enter registration number for your vehicle
• Select parking duration> Daily
• Select parking zone
• Select vehicle type (private car, minibus, canter, Lorry, trailer, Bus)
• Confirm parking fees
• Enter pin and wait for a confirmation SMS

Using the eJijipay app on a smartphone to pay for parking

• Open the Nairobi city-county app and log in

• Select the duration, for example, daily
• Choose a convenient parking zone
• Select vehicle type and Input the registration number
• Confirm parking fee details
• Enter your pin and confirm
• You will get a confirmation SMS after the process is complete.

Notably, the payments work across all mobile money platforms. Also, remember that using the USSD code attracts charges from your mobile network carrier. Using the app or the online version only uses your bundles.

Meanwhile, there is also another new way of paying for your parking fees in the city, thanks to the partnership between Safaricom and KAPS that enables you to alternatively pay through M-PESA.
