A gun and bullets believed to have been used by Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino have been recovered by detectives.
The detectives recovered nine bullets and a spent cartridge which they have placed as exhibit and now awaits analysis by the necessary experts.
Babu Owino was arrested following the shooting incident at B-Club in Nairobi today’s morning,17th January 2020.
Babu is accused of shooting Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve but he maintains he did not and that the incident occurred as a culmination of attempt on his life.
Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve, was shot by Babu on the neck and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit in Nairobi hospital where he was rushed by the same Babu Owino.
Babu who is reported to have been friends with DJ Evolve is accused of having been in an argument before drawing his gun and shooting the DJ at close range on the neck.
The bullet has already been dislodged from the neck of DJ Evolve who remains in critical condition though stable according to doctors.
Babu Owino was arrested at the hospital by detectives where he had rushed DJ Evolve after allegedly shooting him.
Babu has released a statement saying he has been receiving threats, which he reported to the police and tied the incident to the threats.
“I have been receiving threats against my life and even reported an attempted assassination at the Parliament Police Station under OB number OB21/17/11/2019. I have been living under the weight of intimidation and threats,” he said in the statement.
“While enjoying the company of my friends at a popular Nairobi restaurant, I was surrounded by a large group of aggressive individuals. In the melee, there was an exchange of gunfire,” read the statement.
Babu Owino is being represented by lawyer Cliff Ombeta who said that Babu Owino realized the guy who was shot was one of his close friends and rushed him to hospital.
