Somalia’s Greatest Artist ‘Hudeydi’ Succumbs To COVID-19

Somalia’s greatest artists Ahmed Ismail Hussein ‘Hudeydi’ has died in London after contracting coronavirus at the age of 92-years-old.

Hudeydi is now among more than 1.2 million people to have lost their lives in the Coronavirus pandemic that has hit the World infecting millions.

Hudyedi, famous as ‘King of Oud’ has been in the hospital for four days and has died aged 92 years and will be greatly remembered for his prowess in playing drums.

Hudyedi played in Somalia in the 1950s and 1960s at a time when Somalia officials tried to ban music as a distraction and viewed musicians as devils.

Hudyedi moved to the United Kingdom where he performed at private functions and taught instruments.

Somalia Yesterday, 7th April 2020, confirmed one more new case of coronavirus increasing the confirmed cases in the country to eight.

Somalia is one of 52 African countries that have recorded cases of COVID-19. Africa’s confirmed coronavirus cases have surpassed 9,000, with more than 400 deaths.

More than 800 patients have recovered from Coronavirus in Africa.
