There is a war between two communities happening in Narok South. Eight people have already lost their lives and several others injured in ongoing tribal clashes.

The tribal clashes are between the Maasai and the Kipsigis communities, both of which have been living side by side for decades.

It is said that the clashes broke out when a cow was stolen from the Maasai and later found at a homestead of a Kipsigis young man.

Several houses have already been burnt down, livestock killed by arrows and crops destroyed in what is now being described as revenge attacks from both communities.

Police officers in the area have raised concerns about their safety saying the communities are heavily armed with bows, arrows, and machetes and that they have threatened to attack some of them.

A man found dead by the roadside. An arrow had gone through his back and he had machete cuts on the head.

Scary and bloodied pictures of people shot by arrows have been flooding the internet with area residents calling on the government to move with speed to salvage the situation before it becomes worse.

On Tuesday, people believed to be from the Maasai community chopped off a young man’s head from the Kipsigis community, hanged the body on a tree upside down, and went away with the head in one of the horrendous scenes ever witnessed.

The silence of political leaders from the region has also raised eyebrows. There are talks of some Members of Parliament inciting their people into war so that they can force the government to resettle them after being ejected from Mau Forest.

No political leader has been pinned on the clashes but police say that investigations are underway.
