TSC Releases New Requirements For Promoting C1 And C2 Teachers In September

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) changed the grading system for primary and secondary school teachers immediately after signing the 54 billion shillings Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) 2017 to 2021 between it and the three teachers’ unions.

TSC adopted the Career Progression Guidelines (CPG) as a way of grading and promoting teachers to various grades. According to the Commission CPG is a precise modality designed to enable the Commission to implement CBAs.

TSC  is a Constitutional Commission established under Article 237 (1) of the Constitution. Under this mandate, the Commission invites applications from suitably qualified teachers for the posts shown below in line with the Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers.

Interested candidates, who meet the required qualifications, should submit their applications online through the TSC portal –  www.teachersonline.go.ke to be received latest 8th  September, 2023.

Manual applications shall not be considered.

NB: Candidates who are successful in the interviews shall be required to present valid Chapter 6 documents before they are appointed.

  1. Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
  2. Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  3. Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  4. Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
  5. A Clearance Certificate from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)

  1. Have served as Primary Teacher I T-Scale 6 for a minimum period of three (3) years
  2. Have a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process
  3. Meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution
  4. Meet any other requirement the Commission may deem necessary.

NB: – Candidates in Asal and Hard-to-staff counties who have served in the current grade for at least 2 years are eligible.

Requirements for Appointment of Senior Teacher II (SNE Primary School) T-Scale-7, 700 Posts

  1. Have served as Primary Teacher I T-Scale 6 for a minimum period of three (3) years
  2. Have at least a Diploma in Special Needs Education (in the area of specialty indicated)
  3. Have a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process
  4. Meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution
  5. Meet any other requirement the Commission may deem necessary.
