Governor Sang: A Tyrant Paying Mummy’s Bills With Your Money – Time To Lock Him And Mama Sang Behind Bars!

BY Absalom Wafula · September 21, 2024 10:09 am

Kenya, oh Kenya, how art thou plagued by the venomous fangs of corruption! What madness has descended upon Nandi County, where a governor thinks it wise to pay his own mother a hefty salary for the sole act of birthing him into this cruel world? If it weren’t for the resounding echoes of suffering, one would think this tale of blatant nepotism was a comedy. But alas, it is a tragedy—a tragedy where Sang the governor turns public coffers into a personal treasure chest for his own flesh and blood.

How, pray, does the mother of a governor—whom I suspect does nothing more than bask in the shade of the county’s stolen wealth—earn more than the overworked, underpaid nurses in the county hospitals? Does Nandi County owe its development to her wisdom of cradle care or perhaps her indispensable presence at tea parties of thieves? The questions abound, but the answers, my dear Kenyans, are not just demonic—they are illegal, and no doubt, criminal to the core!

A Sin Against Devolution

Oh, devolution, thou sacred bridge between the people and governance, see how thou art misused! The Sang dynasty would have you believe that devolution is nothing more than a family-run affair, where public funds flow directly into Mama Sang’s purse. Are we to assume that all county governors are now tendering contracts to their uncles and cousins, or shall we entertain the possibility that every governor has a pay slip for his mother as well? If so, woe to Kenya, for devolution is nothing but a theatre of family corruption.

Let me take a moment to ask: where is the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)? Where is the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)? Are they content to sip tea and nibble on government-funded mandazis while the Sang family builds a legacy of looting? These two institutions have been reduced to mere puppets, dangling on strings held by the corrupt politicians they are meant to investigate. They draw hefty salaries, yet they remain weaponized only when the high powers wish to silence innocent citizens. Meanwhile, actual criminals, like Governor Sang and his darling mother, are free to roam the county, looting in broad daylight.

Nandi

Justice is Dead

Let us not mince words: paying your mother from public coffers is not just corruption—it is an abomination! In any sane society, the likes of Sang would already be rotting in jail, wearing striped prison uniforms, far from the luxuries they’ve stolen. His mother, too, should join him in a cell, repenting daily for accepting the blood money extracted from the people of Nandi.

But alas, in Kenya, justice is on vacation. The EACC and DCI, oh, how they disappoint! Instead of hunting down thieves, they’ve become watchdogs for the very people they should be prosecuting. Perhaps they are too busy counting their own salaries to notice that corruption is stifling the hopes of an entire nation. Sang and his ilk have turned county governance into a mafia syndicate, where your mother gets a monthly salary just because she gave birth to you. Oh, the audacity!

Devolution – From Vision to Illusion

When the architects of our constitution laid the foundations of devolution, they dreamed of a Kenya where governance would be brought closer to the people. But what devolution has brought us is far from that vision—it has brought us a governor paying his own mother from the sweat of the people. Sang, like many other county chiefs, has hijacked the vision of devolution and turned it into a family business.

How can we sit idly by as devolution turns into this vile beast? Are we to allow every governor in Kenya to gift their mothers with plush allowances, while the common mwananchi can barely afford a meal? No, this must stop, and it must stop now!

Time for Action

Kenyans, the time for action is now. The DCI and EACC must be overhauled, shaken out of their slumber, and forced to earn their keep. Governor Sang and his beloved mother should not just be shamed—they must be prosecuted, tried, and thrown into prison for their crimes. Their looted funds must be returned to the public coffers, with interest, so that the people of Nandi County can start to see the fruits of their hard-earned taxes.

This is not just a Nandi County problem; it is a Kenyan problem. If we allow Sang to get away with this, what message are we sending to the rest of the country? That it’s okay for governors to create family payrolls? That corruption within county governments is acceptable as long as it’s your mother, and not your mistress, cashing the cheques? No, Sang must serve as an example. Jail him, jail his mother, and let it be known across the land that Kenya will no longer tolerate such blatant theft.

Poetic Justice Awaits

Oh, how sweet the sound will be when Sang and his mother hear the clang of the prison bars. The people of Nandi will celebrate in the streets, knowing that justice has finally come. The same public money Sang used to pay his mother will now be used to build schools, repair roads, and provide healthcare to the very people he neglected.

But let us not stop at Sang alone. If Nandi County can engage in such a despicable act, then the other counties are surely doing the same. We must demand transparency across the board. Audits must be carried out in every county, and the culprits must be brought to justice. Sang’s downfall should serve as a warning to every other corrupt governor—your time is up.

Jail Time: The Sweetest Song of All

Let the courts ring with justice as they sentence Sang and his mother to years behind bars. Let the funds they’ve stolen be returned with interest, so that the people of Nandi County can finally enjoy the benefits of devolution. Let this be the beginning of the end for all corrupt county officials who think public office is a family ATM.

Therefore, dear reader, do not be dismayed by the audacity of these thieves. Be emboldened by it. If we rise up as one, if we demand action from the DCI and EACC, if we insist that thieves like Sang and his mother be jailed, then we can restore the promise of devolution. We, the people of Kenya, will no longer sit idly by as our country is looted by the very people we elect. Sang, prepare yourself for prison. And mama, I hope your son bought you a warm jacket—because jail awaits!
