List Of Regions Set To Experience Very Cold Nights And Hot Days

The Kenya Meteorological Department urged Kenyans to brace for overly cold nights and hot days for the next seven days.

According to Kenya Met Director General David Gikungu, in his weekly reports, he urged Kenyans living in the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and South-Eastern Lowlands to prepare for cold nights of up to below 10°C.

Among the counties set to experience such weather patterns include Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi.

Kisumu, Homabay, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, and Elgeyo-Marakwet are among the counties bracing for the same conditions.

Also, residents living in South Rift Valley, Coast, South-eastern lowlands, Western, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya were warned of hot daytime temperatures of up to 30°C.

In his reports, Gikungu said that Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Turkana, Samburu, and the coastal counties of Mombasa, Tana-River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale are among the counties that are experiencing hot days.

“Sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy,” Gikungu noted in his report.

Kenya Met also projected different parts of the country to experience rains in both moderate and heavy amounts. The weather department said that moderate rainfall was likely to pound the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and the Coast.

Counties projected to experience rains include Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia, and Migori.

In the mornings, Sunny intervals are expected but a few areas may receive light rains. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over a few places occasionally spreading to several places,” read part of the advisory.

“Nights are expected to be partly cloudy though light showers may occur over a few places.”
